Cebu Blogger: Here's my honest review about this newly introduced toner from Met Tathione. I just recently came back to intake glutathione not for the sake of getting whiter but for cleansing of my internal organs especially my liver. However, when I purchased 1 bottle from Watsons, they handed me over a box with a free Met Tathione Toner 150 ml bottle. So, I thought I should give it a try as I'm changing the toner that I've been using for months.

Pond's has been too harsh on my skin when I applied. I have that stingy and tingly feeling. That means, it has alcohol!!! So I'm ditching it. I dunno why I succumbed to it for months...

Now, are you ready to know my reviews?

But before that, let's get in to some facts and details. It is the first thing that we should know when putting things on our face or skin. For me, it should be Paraben-free, alcohol-free, Benzophenone-free, Mineral-free and Perfume-free.

Also, the ingredients with a higher amount or quantity are listed first. At least, that's what I know. So if there are any ingredients that I may think could be toxic at some point, it should be listed far behind. Or can just be tolerable because of its small amount. Are we good?

Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, glutathione, alpha-arbutin, hydrolyzed jojoba esters, sodium hyaluronate, Saxifraga sarmentosa extract, Scutellaria baicalensis root extract, coix lacryma-jobi ma-yuen seed extract, sodium bicarbonate, hydroxyethylcellulose, disodium EDTA, peg-32, peg-6, xanthan gum, peg-60, hydrogenated castor oil, Phenoxyethanol, fragrance

Are ingredients safe to put on the face? The first 10 ingredients are pretty much SAFE. However, there might be some ingredients that I just want to stress out. Let me put a snap description of some ingredients that might seem new or I'm in doubt. All info are taken from Google!

*Butylene glycol is considered to be largely safe for use as a topical skin care ingredient. While it's a type of alcohol, it doesn't typically irritate or dry out skin. (note the word "alcohol")

*Is hydroxyethylcellulose safe?

It is not beneficial in itself to the skin, but is a widely used ingredient because of its ability to serve many purposes (Source). Safety Measures/Side Effects: There are no adverse side effects or warnings associated with products containing Hydroxyethylcellulose. (ok, it is safe)

*The Cosmetics Database considers Tetrasodium EDTA a low to moderate hazard ingredient, depending on its usage. ... However, tests done by the CIR (which are not corroborated) found that Tetrasodium EDTA is not a dermal irritant or a sensitizer, and is not absorbed by skin easily. (this is safe)

*Peg-32 also functions as an emulsifier, which is a type of ingredient that keeps unlike substances (such as oil and water) from separating.

*PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a surfactant: it helps water mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away, leaving skin and hair clean.

In themselves, PEG compounds are not dangerous. Most of them are well tolerated by the skin and are generally considered safe. (it is safe)

*Xanthan gum may not be an active ingredient, but its use in skincare is significant for product texture and formulation. It is not known to have any toxic or harmful side effects, can be appropriate for use in natural and organic skincare and is thought to have some hydrating benefits for the skin. (it is good for the skin)

*Phenoxyethanol is used as an anti-bacterial in cosmetics as well as a stabilizer in perfume. The product's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) says that phenoxyethanol is harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin and that it can cause reproductive damage. (this is the ingredient that I'm so concerned, however, it is minimal in quantity)

How to use it?

After washing my face with a Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, I apply the Met Tathione Toner on a cotton pad. I just softly press it on my face. Not really rubbing it. I just want the juices to get into my skin with a gentle push.

What it do?

It tones and whitens the skin.

Size: 150 ml

Smell: It is fragrant. But because I want to use products that are parfum-free, I hope they can just get rid of it. But it is ok, tolerable scent.

Harshness: It is not harsh like my previous toner. I don't feel any tingling sensation. So I'm liking it.

Suggestion: If taking in some glutathione gels, make it sure it is from the same brand or manufacturer. In this case, form IVI.RYO Corporation.

Effectiveness: 8/10

Price: Around Php 1100.00 or $19.

Would I recommend it?

Yes. I think the ingredients mentioned above are a bit of concern especially it has a type of alcohol but not irritating and phenoxyethanol that could be harmful but I guess with a few amount only. For me, it is generally SAFE to use.

However, I'm still seeking other toners out there. Maybe the Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner is worth a try and it is cheaper than the Met Tathione Glutatione Whitening Toner.

What do you think? Do let me know.
